Minnesota Official Marriage System
Due to COVID-19, restrictions may be in place at county offices regarding access to complete your marriage license application in person. Please contact the office for details prior to appearing in person.
If you have already been issued a marriage license but are unable to proceed with the marriage within the Six Month timeframe, please note:
Under Statute 517.08 , there is a provision for an extension of a marriage license: If the license should not be used within the period of six months due to illness or other extenuating circumstances, it may be surrendered to the local registrar for cancellation, and in that case a new license could be issued upon request of the parties of the original license without fee.
